BlackBerry was slated to launch BBM for Android and iOS last weekend. But as if the Waterloo-based smartphone pioneer hasn't faced enough challenges recently, its launch was a massive flop.

"Last week, an unreleased, older version of the BBM for Android app was posted on numerous file sharing sites. This older version resulted in volumes of data traffic orders of magnitude higher than normal for each active user and impacted the system in abnormal ways," Andrew Bocking, the executive vice president of BBM, explained of the mishap on BlackBerry's blog. "The version we were planning to release on Saturday addressed these issues, however we could not block users of the unreleased version if we went ahead with the launch."

Despite this fail—which has yet to be resolved—BlackBerry still decided to show off BBM for Desktop during its BlackBerry Jam Asia 2013. In Hong Kong, Chris Smith, VP of Application Platform at BlackBerry, demonstrated on a Windows PC what BBM will look like for the desktop.

The brief demo was not accompanied with any sort of release date.

It's also been widely rumored that a BBM for Mac app is also in the works; again, however, details remain scarce.

I learn an old technique to how to recover damaged or scratched disks with some lost of data. In this case i have one borrowed game - MAX PAYNE 2 with a chunk of 4mb lost with a scratch in CD1 Install. Here we cover some special techniques of how to create a full working CD from the scratched one.

Requirements:
1. Alcohol 120%
2. UltraISO
3. Windows XP/2000 (not tested on 95/98/me)
4. Small piece of cotton
5. Dry cleaner paper
6. Finally, oil for cooking.

First Step - Preparing The CD:
Get the cotton and drop some water, start cleaning vertically the surface of CD. Do it 3 times and dry the water with a piece of dry cleaner paper. With a new piece of cotton, drop some oil for cooking and start to wet the surface like you are washing the CD with the oil. Dry carefully now. Some particles of oil will stay on the micro-surface of the scratch. It's okay. Seems the oil helps the laser of the CD/DVD driver to read the surface again. Sure this will work with small unreadable scratchs - some hard scratchs loose parts of the surface of the CD where we have data and it's lost forever. But if it is loosed try anyway. Whith this tip 80% of the small scratched CD's coud be recovered.

Second Step - Testing The CD:
With Alcohol 120% make an ISO - image making wizard - and lets see if the app can read the loosed surface. In my case Alcohol 120% had recovered 60% of the data. This is not enough. Have tryed other appz, they do not recover all the data. But the CD/DVD driver laser CAN recover all data in this case. the data is still there, what we do?

Third Step - Making The New CD:
With the main copy system of windows explorer you can do it. Just create one folder with the same name of the CD label for future burn reference, and copy the CD content to the folder. When the CD copy process find the scratch, in majority of the cases, it's slow down the reading and will recover ALL loosed data.If not, it just tell you there's an unreadable sector. In this case your CD is lost. But it's not my case, finally windows explorer got all the data from the scratch and made a copy in the folder.
with the ultraISO, wrote the original CD label, drop the content of the folder and save as Iso. You can Test the new CD just mounting the iso in the Alcohol 120%. In my case i did ISO of the two discs from MAX PAYNE 2 and tested installing from the mounted ISO. Works like a charm. I got the 4mb lost again. So, I have burned the CD and now i have a working copy from the scratched one.

Sounds too bizarre, but works. Course you can jump the cleaning process and try to copy the content with Windows explorer. But in my case did not work without oil...

if you see a lot of icons or programs start up when you first put on your computer then this is for you if you don't actually know how to get rid of them.

How To Turn Off Auto-Start Programs In PC:
1. Press your Start Button (bottom left) and go to "run"
2. type in "msconfig"
3. a box will pops up and will tell you bunch of stuff but don't mess with anything else other than what I tell you otherwise you could do something really bad (possible)
4. go to the "startup" tab on the top right of the pop up box and click it.
5. Now you will have a closed in box with bunch of file names n addresses and more boxes with checks in them.
6. Now if you don't want anything starting up when you put on your computer or while your even doing anything cause it slows you down. Unless you have some programs which you really want them to auto start when your computer comes up.
7. But other than that uncheck every box and then hit apply and OK.
8. The window you were just in will now close and ask you if you want to restart or close without restarting.

Either way when you shut it off and then turn it back and the settings will kick in

BlackBerry has finally confirmed the release date of BBM for Android and iOS. In a statement to the press BlackBerry outlined the release date for both platforms as well as some of the features we’ll see once the IM client goes live.
BBM for Android was released on September 21 and the IM client will come to Apple’s iPhone on September 22.
“BBM is a very engaging messaging service that is simple to use, easy to personalize and has an immediacy that is necessary for mobile communications,” said Andrew Bocking, Executive Vice President for BBM at BlackBerry.
“With more than a billion Android, iOS, and BlackBerry smartphones in the market, and no dominant mobile messaging platform, this is absolutely the right time to bring BBM to Android and iPhone customers.

BBM for iPhone and Android will initially include chat, photo and voice note sharing, multi-person chats with up to 30 people, and the ability to post status updates and personal messages. However, BlackBerry says the apps will get BBM Channels in a future updates. Although there's still no word on when it is coming to Windows Phone.
BlackBerry highlighted the following features of BBM inside the release:


BBM Chat – Enjoy real, immediate conversations with friends on Android, iPhone and BlackBerry smartphones. Not only does BBM let you know that your message has been delivered and read, it also shows you that your friend is responding to the message.

Your Unique PIN – Every BBM user has a unique PIN that maintains your privacy, so you don’t have to give out your phone number or email address to a new or casual contact.

New Delhi: Struggling smartphone maker BlackBerry, which is already going through a tough phase due to poor sales and bad market performance, faced a major setback after it failed to roll out the BBM app for Android and iOS as per the schedule.While BlackBerry was expected to go smoothly with the launch of its much-awaited BBM app for Android and iOS, the company has goofed up the entire rollout process.BBM for Android was scheduled to arrive on the Google Play Store at 4:30 PM IST (7 AM EDT) on Saturday, and on iOS a day later. The company failed to rollout the app for Android, but it successfully released the app for iOS as per the schedule. However, later the company halted the entire rollout process - citing technical issues.BBM for Android and iPhone delayIt sounds so unprofessional that a company of such a repute not only failed to meet its planned schedule but also stopped the process midway. While the BBM app was slated to appear first on Android then on iOS, the availability of the app on iOS before Android reflected the unprofessional approach of BlackBerry.Also the official BBM Twitter account (@BBM), whose followers swelled in number over a few hours, wasn't of much help for people waiting eagerly. It had a few jokes to share and an apology much later but didn't clear the air about what was actually causing the delay in the Android app rollout.Finally, after more than 12 hours of BBM for Android's scheduled availability time, Inside BlackBerry, the official BlackBerry blog, had a three-paragraph post that put the blame for the delay on "an unreleased version of the BBM for Android app" that was posted online. According to BlackBerry, "more than 1.1 million active users in the first 8 hours without even launching the official Android app." But the user eagerness in getting BBM on their non-BlackBerry phones led apparently led to some issues. "Consequently, this unreleased version caused issues, which we have attempted to address throughout the day," the post by BlackBerry's Business Social Media Manager Luke Reimer said. As a result the unreleased Android app will be disabled and BlackBerry has stopped, for now, the global roll-out of BBM for Android and iPhone.Those who have downloaded the BBM for iPhone from the Apple App Store, will be able to continue to use BBM.BBM has more than 60 million monthly active customers on BlackBerry alone and this figure is expected to multiply with the popular messaging app becoming available on the two most popular mobile platforms.BlackBerry 10 sales weakWaterloo, Ontario-based BlackBerry, once Canada's premier technology company, said it expects to book a $930 million to $960 million writedown in its fiscal second quarter owing to a ballooning stockpile of unsold BlackBerry Z10 devices.The company had bet much of its future on the popularity of the Z10 touchscreen device - the first of the smartphones to be powered by its new BlackBerry 10 operating system. While the device drew favorable reviews, it has failed to gain traction among consumers since its introduction earlier this year. For the second quarter, the company expects to have sold about 3.7 million BlackBerry smartphones to end users.BlackBerry said it is changing the way it accounts for device sales, now booking revenue only after a device is sold to the end customer, and not to carriers. Worryingly, most of the unit sales being recognised in the quarter are older-generation BlackBerry 7 devices.The company said it could not recognise BlackBerry 10 devices shipped in the quarter until those devices are sold through to end customers. That suggests carriers have been having difficulty moving the new line of devices.Major job cutsBlackBerry said it expects its adjusted net loss, before giving effect to the inventory and restructuring provisions, will be in a range of about $250 million to $265 million, or a loss of 47 cents to 51 cents a share. BlackBerry sees about $1.6 billion of revenue in the second quarter, of which roughly 50 per cent is expected to be revenue from its services unit.Analysts, on average, had forecast a loss of 15 cents a share on revenue of $3.06 billion, according to Thomson Reuters. "The revenue and device shipment numbers are pretty surprising given how weak it is," said UBS analyst Passi. "I think many of us were expecting a pretty difficult quarter, but this is much worse than we anticipated."The company, which had warned that job cuts were in the offing, plans to shed 4,500 jobs. BlackBerry has already undergone a major round of job cuts over the last 12 months. It employed 12,700 people as of March, and once had close to 20,000 employees. BlackBerry said its cash position as of the end of the fiscal second quarter is estimated to be about $2.6 billion, down from about $3.1 billion three months earlier."It makes it even more difficult for somebody to step in and buy the company. If you look at what's been happening, they've burnt through approximately half a billion dollars in cash in the last three months," said Veritas Investment Research analyst Neeraj Monga

BBM iOS and Android releases paused: Trouble in the household...

.SlashGear Chris Burns 10 hours agoThough the software teams at BlackBerry suggested they’d be beginning the roll-out of BBM (BlackBerry Messenger) as an app for Android and iOS starting this week, it would now appear that they’ve hit the proverbial pause button for both platforms. While it’s unclear at the moment if this cut in downloads and service to the chat app ecosystem for both Google and Apple’s mobile OS had anything to do with BlackBerry’s announcement ofhistory-making losses for the quarter, it is clear that the results are thus: some people can use BBM today, others cannot.Straight from Inside BlackBerry’s Luke Reimer comes word that some issues have arisen for both the Android and iOS versions of BBM. First, it would seem that theBBM app for Android was never officially released, but the BBM team saw a whopping 1.1 million active users in the first 8 hours of app release.The BBM user numbers BlackBerry speaks of here come from an unofficial “unreleased version of the BBM for Android app” which was posted online before it could hit Google Play. BlackBerry is being iffy on how this app saw the light of day, but are now addressing “issues” that appeared when this so-called “unreleased” version began to spread. Unlucky you, Android users: BlackBerry has begun disabling this first app – no matter how legitimate it may seem – and the real version’s release date is again in flux.And the iOS version of BBM? There’ve been some oddities in that release as well. Though some users in places like the iTunes app store for New Zealand were able to download the real-deal iOS version of BBM for iPhone, downloads have been stopped worldwide. The good news for iOS users that did access this app early is that they’ll be able to continue using it (for the time being).“As soon as we are able, we will begin a staggered country roll-out of BBM for Android and continue the roll-out of BBM for iPhone. … These issues have not impacted BBM service for BlackBerry.” – Luke Reimer, BlackBerryNo worries if you’re working with a real BlackBerry smartphone and have BBM kicking out the messages like normal – service will continue as planned. The “global roll-out of BBM for Android and iPhone”, on the other hand, is hereby paused...

Despite all the negative news from BlackBerry, the BBM launch on Android was supposed to be one of the big happenings in the tech world on 21 September. At 12:00 AM EST (4:30 PM IST), BBM was supposed to go live on the official Android app store, Google Play.At the time of writing, 17 hours after the deadline, the official BBM has not yet appeared on Google Play. What did appear were tens of fake apps, some purportedly coming from developers like BlackBerry Inc, etc.On BlackBerry fan sites like Crackberry.com, chat rooms were choked with thousands of users venting their frustration. To make things worse, as New Zealand moved from 21 September to 22 September at 12:00 AM, BBM dropped on to the Apple App Store there. Then a bit later on to the App Stores in Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, India and so on.Remember, BBM on iOS was supposed to come after BBM on Android was launched globally.#BBM was trending on Twitter and Android users were exchanging links from where they could download a leaked BBM on an Android .apk file using which they could load BBM on their Android devices. And everyone reported it as working fine. BlackBerry today claimed that more than 1.1 million Android users started using BBM through this leaked Android .apk file in the first eight hours (As of 22 September, 12:30 am IST).In what is now typical, bumbling BlackBerry communication strategy, there was no news from BlackBerry.To make things worse, @BBM, the official Twitter ID for BBM actually tried to ease the tension by cracking what was a rather insensitive joke to the millions who were waiting for BBM on Android and getting angrier by the minute: "Hey, at least waiting at home is better than waiting in line. ;) #Android #BBM4ALL"An hour later, when someone who perhaps.... As we saw on Google Play today, we suddenly realised that most of the fake BBM apps, by developers like 'BlackBerry Inc.' have disappeared. This seems to be the real reason. knew something about communications strategy in a crisis and that poking fun at angry users does not really dissipate anger and frustration, passed on the message, @BBM sobered up and said they were not playing favourites and soon started empathising with users: "Thanks for your patience #Android users! Working hard to get you the real #BBM ASAP. We'll let you know when it's live. #BBM4ALL"As things stand, around 4 hours ago, nearly 13 hours after the launch deadline for BBM on Android passed, @BBM finally had some real information to share, and also announced that after UAE, the BBM on iPhone rollout was also on hold as they tackled the BBM on Android problem. This means that Europe and the Americas will not get BBM on iOS till the BBM on Android problem is licked.An official blog post by Luke Reimer, Business Social Media Manager at BlackBerry explained: "Prior to launching BBM for Android, an unreleased version of the BBM for Android app was posted online. The interest and enthusiasm we have seen already - more than 1.1 million active users in the first 8 hours without even launching the official Android app - is incredible. Consequently, this unreleased version caused issues, which we have attempted to address throughout the day."While Reimer went on to say that the unreleased BBM app would be disabled, we don't buy this explanation. If the .apk was a leaked version of BBM on Android, there is no real reason why it should create problems. Surely the 1.1 million user number was no problem either as BlackBerry certainly expected far more than that number to download BBM from Google Play.So, what gives? As we saw on Google Play today, we suddenly realised that most of the fake BBM apps, by developers like 'BlackBerry Inc.' have disappeared. This seems to be the real reason. Many of these apps already had tens of thousands of downloads within a few hours, so obviously many users downloaded the fake apps (that could even be malware) despite the descriptions of these apps being unprofessional and unclear.Many users trust an official app store like Google Play would have basic standards in place and hence would blindly download an app that claims it is BBM and is developed by BlackBerry Inc. But as slightly more experienced Android users know, that is not the case. Google supposedly has an automated system that just scans the file for malware and then allows it to appear on Google Play. Because Google wants to be 'open' as compared to app stores like Apple's and BlackBerry's.Atrocious? Yes it is.Google Play is like the Wild West and yesterday millions of users waiting for BBM on Android seemed to have paid the price for Google's poor standards for Google Play, where I can pretend to be any company and upload useless apps with exactly the same name and users can be conned and will download the fake app till the real company in question asks Google to take the fake app down.So why didn't BlackBerry open up about this?One, perhaps BlackBerry didn't expect this, which to be fair is BlackBerry's fault-they are not a tiny company and even if they have not released an app of BBM's magnitude of appeal on Google Play earlier (they have three enterprise apps on Google Play), they should know how a competing app store works.Two, at this stage where BlackBerry is desperate to make BBM big as it goes cross-platform, BlackBerry needs Google more than Google needs BlackBerry. They need Google to promote BBM on the app store, despite the fact that BlackBerry is also signing promotional deals with Samsung and even home-grown Micromax.We have no clue on when the official BB app will finally come to Google Play, but seeing that Google seems to be weeding out the fakes, we estimate it should happen soon. President Goodluck Jonathan has terminated the appointment of two of his Special Advisers.This was disclosed in a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Reuben Abati.The statement said the appointment of Joy Emordi, who was Special Adviser to the President on National Assembly Matters, and that of Tunji Olagunju, his Special Adviser on the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD), had been terminated with immediate effect.“President Jonathan thanks Mrs. Emordi and Dr. Olagunju for their services and wishes them success in their future endeavours”.Mr. Olagunju had served as Special Adviser to the President on NEPAD since June 2007 while Mrs. Emordi was appointed in 2011.The President had also last week fired nine of his ministers....

As Ghana marks the 104th birthday of her first President, Dr Kwame Nkrumah, a day designated as Founder's Day, there is a renewed debate on whether or not Dr Nkrumah could be regarded as the sole founder of Ghana.

Worried about plugging your device into an unfamiliar port and exposing it to horrible viruses or Trojans? Simply put this "USB condom" between the male and female ends before docking and the only thing transmitted will be safe, clean electricity.
Security-conscious individuals are probably aware that plugging your phone or drive into an unfamiliar computer or USB charging jack presents something of a risk. There are ways to hijack devices, surreptitiously install software or access files without the owner knowing. In less malicious, but potentially still awkward scenarios, the host computer may simply make an honest mistake and back up all your data — including pictures and financial information you weren't planning on sharing.

So if you're often charging on the go, and you don't truly know whether a given port is safe or not, it's time to think about a USB condom.
Every USB port and cable has several electrical channels, some of which are used to transfer power, the others data. The USB condom simply blocks the current on the data channels, meaning only the power channels make the connection between the device charging and the one being charged.

There are simpler solutions, such as power-only USB cables that simply don't have the data channels to begin with. But carrying two cables at all times could be a pain, and power-only cables may not come in the varieties you need — extra long, for example, or with a custom termination.

A USB condom may seem like overkill, but it may also be the easiest way to be sure your devices are safe from USB intrusion. The price is right, too: they should cost less than $10.
Unfortunately, the USB condoms, custom made by security and hardware specialist Stephen A. Ridley, are not available just yet — but he assures us that a shipment is coming on Sept. 16. And unlike Ridley's other, more experimental products, this one will come fully assembled.

TweetMyPC is a little software-application for Windows, written in VB.Net using the .Net-Framework v3.5 SP1, which allows you to control and access your computer from anywhere by simply sending a twitter-message with a special command as its content. 

Why twitter?
Most time when you want to connect two personal computers you need a Server between them to get access and forward the wanted data because firewalls often block direct connections and most people don't have internet-connections with static IPs. For example if you use Skype or another instant messenger, your client connects to a server which 'manages' all the data-transferring and tells the clients the addresses of the other computers. But why should you develop a complete-Server-Client-system just for sending a few short messages to your computer, if there are simple systems like Twitter? This service gives users a really easy and fast way of communication. Twitter already is a stable system for which there are many libraries software-developers can easily use to connect with their programs to twitter. Another advantage of twitter is that the users can even send messages called "tweets" using your mobile phones independent from where they are! And exactly this is what we need for TweetMyPC!
Many people now think why they should use TweetMyPC if there are things like Remote Desktop or vnc; but as already said before, you still need the IP-Address and often an open port for being able to use these technologies - this is not needed with TweetMyPC and it also would be more work to do.

How to use TweetMyPC
1. First download the software from this link  Tweet My PC
2. Next, open Tweet My PC and enter your Twitter account’s login details as shown below

3. If you want to add your own custom commands, you can do it by going into Settings >  Custom Commands
4. After your done click on “Save and Hide”
