Purchasing an iPhone is not cheap and not always easy. Some people have to queue up for minutes and hours just to buy their phones while some just pay Fedex to ship it to them. Whichever way you got your device, am sure you worked hard for it and it will be very painful if someone stole it or you misplaced it.
The good news is that all hope isn't lost if you misplaced your device or someone stole it.
Apple has a software called Find My iPhone, which does a very good job in retrieving and wiping devices amongst other features. However, sometimes, Find My iPhone just won't work when you go to www.icloud.com to find your device and this is even more true when your device is jailbroken.
If your device is jailbroken, you wont be able to wipe your device remotely and some features may not even work at all.
So, with all these issues with Apple's security and tracking software, what options are available out there especially for jailbroken devices?

Well, below is a list of Find My iPhone alternative apps that you can find through Cydia and App Store. i have tried and used some for a while.

1. iTracker: This software is great an very useful. you can find it via the Cydia store if your device is jailbroken. This app is powerful and it is an AntiLost and Tracking app for iPhone. Its not free though except you download a cracked version from sinfuliphone repo.


2. iGotYa: This is another powerful tracking and anti theft app. Its more simple than the previous one. it allows you to take pictures of the thief secretly if you have front camera and also get the location of your phone. You will need to protect your device with an unlock code and iGotYa will do the rest. Also, the user can gain access into the phone or device even if the wrong passcode was entered but all your data (SMS, Call History etc) will be inaccessible.
The reason for the app allowing the thief to gain access is to discourage the thief from wiping and reloading the device.

3. Cylay: This app is my favorite of all the tracking and anti theft app have used. Very simple and works flawlessly. It is the first anti-theft and security iPhone software in the world. It supports real time locating,locking and tracking of your device. This software is on Cydia and its free to download with 30 days trial and just $20 for a year.

4. ServiceMonitor: This is also an online mobile monitoring app. you can remotely destroy/wipe your phone, force it to ring (even if on vibrate), lock the screen, track and map the phone's location at regular intervals.
You can download the free trial if you need it.

5. iHound: Wonderful application. A close relation of Apple's Find My iPhone. It tracks and protect your data too. You can use this app to track and locate your device if stolen. It sends your phone's location to iHound servers every 10 minutes by default. This timing can be changed if you like.
Its a great app and you should try it out. Subscription is mandatory if you really want to enjoy this app.


There it is folks, a short list of Tracking and Anti-Theft Find My iPhone alternative apps. Its not advisable to have all these apps installed on one device as they will consume a lot of RAM, battery power and also data since they have to constantly connect to a remote server, internet etc.
Try out all you can and stick with the best and delete the remaining you don't really fancy.

Hello folks, one of the things that can be very annoying is when you try to download apps from iTunes or App Store and it asks you for your apple account details and  you don't have one. So, you try to register a new account from your device and it tells you to enter your credit card details. Usually, there is no problem with that. However, when you enter the details, it doesn't allow you to go further. it says your card details can't be used.
It is very frustrating to be in this situation.
Another weird moment is when you update your iOS to a higher version and you are required to enter you Apple ID or register and it won't just allow you.
Your best bet is to already have an Apple ID instead of trying to register on your device.

Below is a step by step method to getting your account registered with Apple via iTunes


STEPS

1. Download iTunes and install if you don't have it installed on your computer.
2. Once iTunes is downloaded, lunch it. Click on iTunes Store located at the left side of the iTunes interface
3. Scroll down the page, you will find at the bottom right side of the page a flag. click on it to change the country store you want to operate with. The default is US.
4. Click on any free app and try downloading it. iTunes will present you with a dialogue box in which you can register a new account. 
5. iTunes will present you with an agreement page. Accept and click Continue
6. Put in your details and select or click on "NONE" where you have different credit card logos
7. Proceed to entering all your other details as asked to.
8. At the end of entering all your info, click continue.
9. iTunes will present you with a screen saying that your account have been set up and a link have been sent to the email you registered with
10. Check your email and then confirm the link Apple sent to you and you will no have a new Apple ID
11. Try out your new ID by entering it when you try to purchase or download an app.

 That is it folks. Hope this works for you.

Just recently the Dev-Team released redsn0w 0.9.15b1 to tether jailbreak pre-A5 devices like iPhone 4 and 3GS running iOS6.
However the team released an update to the redsn0w 0.9.15b1 tool to 0.9.15b2.
This new updated redsn0w tool is packed with a good number of fixes and improvements. The most salient point being that it can now untether jailbreak iPhone 3GS with old boot rom.
So if you have a 3GS iPhone with old Boot rom, then you will be more than glad to know that your device can be jailbroken untethered on iOS6.
There is no untethered support for iPhone 4 yet but we believe that in the near future, it will be available.
Below is the step by step guide of using the new updated redsn0w to untether jailbreak your device.

Note: This tutorial assume that you are already jailbroken tethered on the device before. If not, read my other post on how to jailbreak your device with redsn0w 0.9.15b1.

Furthermore, to know if you have a old bot rom 3GS, do the following

• Download iTools and run it. plug in your device into the computer, iTools will detect your phone.
• Look for Serial Number on the Right side of  the page. if the week displayed is below week 40 then you are clearly on old boot rom.

Alternatively, do this method to double check and be 100% sure

• Launch Redsn0w 0.9.15b2 and put your device in DFU mode
• click on Extras, click on Even more and the finally click on Identity
• Look for iBoot, might be under Serial Number or Firmware Version section 
• If  your iBoot number is 359.3, you have a old boot rom, but if you have 359.3.2 or above, then you have a new boot rom. iPhone 3GS from November 2009 is new boot rom and any 3GS before November is usually thought of as old boot rom.

NEEDED ITEMS

• Redsn0w 0.9.15b2
• iPhone 3GS old boot rom
• Good functioning cables

STEPS

1. Download Redsn0w 0.9.15b2 from here http://www.idownloadblog.com/iphone-downloads/
2. Connect your iPhone 3GS old boot rom device to your computer.
3. place your device in DFU mode and then click on Jailbreak

Once Redsn0w finish jailbreaking your device, it will boot automatically and you will have a fully functioning iPhone 3GS running untethered jailbreak.

Also, the new updated Redsn0w allows you to also downgrade your device from one baseband to another baseband or same baseband provided you have your shsh blobs saved either locally with tiny umbrella or via Cydia. Especially for those that have flashed their 3GS with iPad baseband.

Recently, Apple released iOS6 to the public few days after iPhone 5 was released and many people have updated their devices to the latest version of iOS offered by Apple.
However, because a great number people like to have their phone jailbroken or unlocked to use on unsupported apps and sim cards. Consequently updating an apple iOS to the latest version is usually done with caution.
With kudos to the jailbreak dev team, life becomes less cumbersome. They have release an updated version of redsn0w that will allow for tethered jailbreak of the iOS6.
Below is the detailed procedure on how to jailbreak iOS6 on supported devices.

NOTE: This proceure is meant for only A4 devices or below (iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and 4th generation iPod Touch)

NEEDED ITEMS

1. Supported Device
2. iOS6
3. Redsn0w 0.9.15b1
4. iTunes 10.7
5. Good functioning cables to connect your device to the computer
6. Back-up your apps

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Download iOS6 for your device from here http://www.idownloadblog.com/iphone-downloads/. I usually prefer to download the file to my pc and then update rather than updating from iTunes directly due to internet connectivity problems.
2. Download the latest version of iTunes if you don't have it already. iOS6 can only be used on iTunes 10.7
3. Download redsn0w 0.9.15b1 from the same link posted above. it is always very good to preserve baseband if you plan to use unsupported sim on your device.
4. Run Redsn0w in administrator mode for those on Windows and use Ctrl-click  on the Redsn0w icon and select open if you are using OS X Mountain Lion.
5. When redsn0w pops up, click on "Extras" and then click "Custom IPSW".  This will enable you to preserved your baseband. 
6. Select your downloaded iOS6 file and redsn0w will begin customizing your ipsw file. After Redsn0w is done, you will have another version of the iOS6 (NO_BB) that won't update the baseband of your device.
7. Now, go back and click on "Extras" again.
8. Plug in your phone to the computer and switch off. Now click on "Pwned DFU".
9. Follow Redsn0w's instructions to enter dfu mode and you will be fine. in DFU mode, your device screen should be black.
10. Close Redsn0w and open up iTunes. it will detect your device. for windows users, hold down shift while you click Restore. Select the new iOS6 (NO_BB) version  you created with Redsn0w. DO NOT SELECT THE ORIGINAL VERSION YOU DOWNLOADED EARLIER
11. iTunes will restore your device to iOS6 and your baseband will be preserved. Don't bother activating your device after update is completed. Move to the next step.
12. Next step is to jailbreak your device.
13. Close iTunes and run Redsn0w again. click on "Jailbreak"
14. Read the information on given by Redsn0w and follow the instructions to put your device on DFU mode again.
15. On successfully entering DFU mode, select Cydia and Resn0w will start jailbreaking your device. it is very important that you don not tamper or disconnect your device from the computer even if you think that redsn0w is unresponsive.
16. When done, select "Autoboot this device when it connects in DFU mode"
17. After a while, your device will boot and Cydia icon with appear on your home screen.

There it is, your device is jailbroken and running cydia.
This is a tethered jailbreak as at time of this writing. to boot your device whenever the device is switched off, you will have to connect it to Redsn0w again and  click Extras and then click Just boot.

For Those that will want to unlock their phones, Ultrasn0w fixer can help achieve this. However, it is only supported on the following basebands:

• 01.59.00
• 04.26.08
• 05.11.07
• 05.13.01
• 05.12.01
• 06.15.00

If your device have any of these basebands, then you are qualified for ultrasn0w fixer unlock ( software unlock)
Follow these steps to get  your device unlocked ( iPhone 4 and 3GS)
.

1. Open Cydia  and click on Manage, then Sources, Edit and then Add
2. add this link http://repo.iparelhos.com and then click on Add Source. Cydia will download and add sources.
3. After this, open the repo you just added and look for Ultrasn0w fixer for 6.0 utility.
4. Install, Cydia will handle the download.
5. Look for ultrasn0w and download it and you are done.
6. Now you can use your phone with any sim of your choice.  

Make sure Ultrasn0w fixer is first installed before you install Ultrasn0w as mentioned above. Don't jump steps!!

Gevey sim can now unlock iOS 6, 6.0.1 for iPhone 4S.
So many people with an iPhone depend on an unlock solution. There are many unlock methods for iPhone users. One is software unlock, another is hardware unlock and the final unlock is factory unlock.
With all these unlock methods, the best is still factory unlock because it brings no restriction to the phone. However, both software and hardware unlock have their issues in that they depend on  the baseband and iOS version of the device for it to work.
If you are a hardware unlocker using Gevey sim interposer, below is a step by step method to use the Gevey sim.
Make sure your device is jailbroken with preferably Redsn0w 

STEPS
1. Purchase the Original Gevey sim for your device: Gevey Ultra, Gevey Ultra S etc. depending on your device
2. Make sure you do not upgrade your device baseband and OS above 4.10.01 and iOS 5.1.1 respectively.
3. Switch off your device, place your sim on top of the gevey chip.
4. Insert the gevey + sim into the device
5. Power on your device. it will present you with a status, click ACCEPT

Sometimes you might need to manually configure it to work and sometimes it works just fine.

MANUAL
6a.  After you click "Accept" your signal bar will show "No Service". Don't panic, wait 12 seconds
6b. Dial 112, wait 2 seconds and end the call
6c. Go to Settings and turn on "Airplane mode". wait until you see "No Sim Installed"
6d. click Ok and then turn off "Airplane mode"
6e.  At this point network bar will show up after 7 seconds

If you find out that your network isn't stable, go to Cydia and install ultrasn0w and ultrasn0w fixer... this worked for me.

AUTOMATIC
If you power on your device, and its automatic, all you need to do is wait and let gevey do all the magic.

Gevey will dial 112 for you in the background and all other magical stuffs and you will get your network bars.

This is how you use your Gevey sim interposer.
There are other sim interposers like RSIM, XSIM etc and they work almost with the same principle.
