Posted by Unknown Selasa, 30 April 2013 0 komentar
Many people that recently updated their devices to the new iOS 6.1.3 have been facing numerous problems. One of them is the inability to update applications that needed updates from the App Store.

Usually, when the App Store is launched, updates page should reveal apps that needs to be updated and when you tap on those apps, the update should begin.

However, what we found was that, when the App Store is lunched, other pages like Featured, Top Charts, Genius and Search page displays information correctly. But when the Updates tab is tapped, it comes up blank.
This issue is not only for iOS 6.1.3 but was also noticed from iOS 6.0 - 6.1.2.

If you found yourself in this situation and yo are not tired of updating your apps through iTunes, please follow the simple guide below to fix this.

Step 2: tap on International and then tap Language

Step 3: Change your currently checked language to another language e.g British English

Step 4: After changing, go to App Store, and tap Updates and let it get your updates for you

Step 5: If Updates issue is resolved, you can go back to language and change it back to your preferred language.

However, if issue was not resolved, follow this next step

Step 6: From device home, tap Settings and click on General

Step 7: Click on Date and Time and click on Set Automatically

Step 8: Switch time Off and set date one year ahead of current year.

Step 9: Go back to App Store and try Update page again to be sure problem was fixed

Step 10: Go back to Time and Date settings and change Set Automatically to On again

Step 11: Go back to App Store and your updates should show up.

iOS 7 UI Will Be Radically Different from Previous iOS Versions

Posted by Unknown 0 komentar
Apple is set to surprise everyone when iOS 7 finally get released with a radically different but familiar user interface.
According to information exposed to three top Apple officials, John Ive's design will be implemented on the new forthcoming iOS 7.

Over the years, little change have been given to the Glassy, glossy, graphical & bulky User Interface (UI) of the iOS. This is the design that we have come to know, accustomed and loved but got tired of at some point - thanks to themes.

Just like Microsoft ditching its traditional look for a Metro streamlined UI, Apple is set to same for its mobile operating system.

Now, the game is set to change, with a lot of surprises in place for everyone. That familiar UI which we have known for too long will be eradicated and replaced with another familiar UI - a flat look and feel similar to the Windows Metro UI.
This is the hand work of John Ive who succeeded Scott Forstall; the new Interface design director for Apple, believes that its time for a flatter look to be implemented on iOS.

Although, its not surprising as flat UI its beginning to become a norm with mobile devices as with the likes of Microsoft, Google and Yahoo adopting the flat, simplistic style.

With this, we can't wait to get our eyes on the finished product and how it would look. However, we have an idea of the feel and look of the new iOS 7.

What To Expect With iOS 7 User Interface

First, iOS 7 codenamed "Innsbruck" would have a flatter, more streamlined look and feel.  The glassy bulky interface of previous iOS firmware will be done away with and replaced with a flat UI much like that used in Windows Metro.

iOS 6 UI & Rumored iOS 7 UI

Secondly, icon sets, tool bars, notification center would witness a radical dramatic change, transforming all icons to a flat - like icons. Therefore, developers would have to begin making changes to adopt this new UI.

Finally, polarizing filters would be added to decrease viewing angles of on - lookers when glancing at the device.

This change is scary and exciting at the same time. In fact, the entire change will be the biggest change ever made to the iOS user interface firmware all from the stables of John Ive.

For those that don't know, John Ive is the guy with the white hat, the industrial designer and the emperor behind Apple’s many hardware successes like the iPad, iPhone, iPod, and Mac computers but had never had any connection with the software designed to run on the hardware he designed until now.
Now that Ive is at the helm of affairs of the designing of the software as he has always wanted, this bold step of his will either be applauded or criticized.

Ultimately, the sales and adoption by all Apple fans will communicate the verdict - whether this new flat - like look is the boom or not. Well, a die hard Apple fan won't care in as much as its Apple

Stay tuned for more information as they are revealed especially when the WWDC 2013 commences.

Microsoft releases extended IllumiRoom demo video

Posted by Unknown Senin, 29 April 2013 0 komentar
Microsoft’s has released an extended demo of its IllumiRoom project, giving as a glimpse as to what we could expect from the upcoming projector-based device.

IllumiRoom aims to provide a “next-generation gaming console” experience, and may very well be one of the features introduced in Microsoft’s next console.
We first got a glimpse at of this project at CES, and now there’s an extended look at what Microsoft has been busy developing since:

The project consists of a projector placed at a coffee-table level in front of the TV and a Kinect camera accessory for the Xbox 360. The cool thing is, the wall surrounding the TV doesn’t need to be a flat area, thanks to the Kinect camera sensor. Even better, the Kinect is able to transform the entire projected space into a 3D environment, even using the ground as part of the effect. Microsoft has remained fairly ambivalent regarding the inclusion of IllumiRoom in its next Xbox console, which has yet to be officially announced. Either way, the project brings a whole new meaning to the term immersive gaming, and we can’t wait to have it in our living rooms

iOS 7 and OS X Released

Posted by Unknown Kamis, 25 April 2013 0 komentar
Apple have finally announced the date of the much anticipated World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) which holds annually.

This is the conference that Apple usually use as a medium to announce their new inventions like the iWatch, products like the iPhone 5S, iPad, iPod and firmware like iOS 7.

For this year, the conference is scheduled to hold starting from June 10 - 14th 2013. As usual a lot of developers would strive to get passes.

According to information reaching us, tickets will begin selling today 25th April. Consequently, if you had like to attend this conference, you should already be making plans to get your ticket as these tickets are usually very limited and sell out in matter of hours.
Tickets go on sale worldwide on April 25 at 10 a.m. PDT and each ticket costs $1,599 USD or in local currency where available..

It is expected that Apple will release a beta version of the firmware iOS 7 and OS X to developers after the first major keynote which should be delivered by Tim Cook himself.

Talking about iOS 7, since Apple have closed the curtain on the exploits used by Evasi0n to jailbreak iOS 6.0 - 6.1.2 with the release of iOS 6.1.3, many who have updated to iOS 6.1.3 have not be able to jailbreak their devices and therefore are not able to experience the freedom that comes with jailbreaking an Apple device. Although, A4 devices can be jailbroken tethered, yet it is not good enough.

Therefore, hope is cast on the upcoming iOS 7 which we believe that an untethered jailbreak would be possible due to the intense work of notable hackers like Joshua Hill, Musclenerd etc.

There is a high possibility that iPhone 3GS would not be supported to run the upcoming iOS 7. Therefore, those that don't want to be left behind by Apple, should try updating their devices.

Well, that is just an opinion. We shall know fully when the conference begins proper and as usual, activities of the conference would be published and released here so stay tuned and check back always!

The Mac OS X 10.9 (some big cat for sure) is expected to bring more iOS features to the desktop, probably Siri, the Maps app, etc.
We doubt we’ll see new iPhone(s) at this WWDC though. The hardware announcements will probably start September.

Tecno N7 Smartphone full Specifications & Features with Video

Posted by Unknown 0 komentar
TECNO is the brand that have overtaken Nigeria by storm when it comes to phone sales. The prices of TECNO phones are very low compared to other kinds of phones with the same specs and function.
In fact, Nokia that used to dominate phone market in Nigeria, has lost huge market share and have been replaced by tecno phones in the hands of low and middle class income earners.

Of course TECNO phones have always been though of as a silly China phone, but with the series of smartphones been released by this company e.g TECNO N3, D5 etc, one will say that the game is on especially with the new TECNO N7.

Have been asked by many people if I had seen the new and latest Tecno N7 smartphone developed by Tecno Mobile Industries, and I have always replied that I have not only seen but am presently using one.

In case you don't know, Tecno N7 is the latest and highest range smartphone made by Tecno Mobile and below are the specs and features of the device including a video here.

Operating System:                Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.4
RAM:                                                    512mb
ROM:                                                    4gb & 2gb  (there are two types of this device)
Processor:                                         1.2 GHz Dual core
Battery:                                               2300mAh
Front Camera:                               0.3mp
Back Camera:                                 5.0mp with powerful flash
SIM:                                         Dual SIM both operational at the same time
SIM 1slot:                                          Supports Edge, 3G and HSPDA
SIM 2 slot:                              Supports only Edge
Screen size:                                      5 inches
Resolution:                            480 x 800
SD:                                                         Comes with 8Gb memory expandable to 32Gb
Bluetooth:                                        3.0
WiFi:                                                    Yes
Radio:                                                  Yes
Case:                                                     Strong Plastic white back case
Touch Screen:                              Yes, very sleek and responsive
Sensors:                                  G - Sensors, Proximity sensors, light sensor
Video & Audio Support:        Avi, mp4, mp3, ogg, mwv,....
NOTE: 4GB ROM comes with 512mb RAM but the 2GB ROM comes with 750mb RAM

Price: Price is between 29 - 30k in Naira. Slot a phone store located at Ikeja, computer village, sells for N30, 000, while some other stores sells for N31, 000. However I bought mine at another Tecno shop for N29, 000

It comes pre-installed with Whatsapp, Google+, Bible, Quran, Facebook, Twitter, Asphalt 6, Angry Birds etc. and I have installed AVG anti virus, Temple Run 2, Skype, Viber etc on it.
Am currently using this device and I can say that the price is okay. I have also included images so that u can see it for yourself.

This device is okay but not without a down side.
The down side is in the screen resolution and RAM space. I believe that TECNO should have increased the RAM to 1.0GB instead of its 512mb and also, the screen resolution should have been around 1200 x 1200 due to screen size.
RAM issue is noticeable when a lot of apps are running in the background, and you try playing a game like Asphalt 6, it could hang for a while and get back into play. However, when some apps are stopped, game play is seamless and enjoyable.
This device is rootable. In fact Wondershare Mobile Go sees this device as HTC TECNO.

Obviously, a higher version of TECNO N7 will show up soon enough and I would like to trade in this N7 for that.
I have included images and a video link here for you just in case you had like to see what this device actually looks like.

Obviously, the game is on for smartphone makers. If TECNO can come up with something as good as this, then we are sure that even better devices and tablet are in the works and would be released soon.

Pros:
  • Solid build
  • Fairly good camera
  • Strong and long lasting battery
Cons:
  • Low RAM
  • Low screen resolution
  • Possibility of operating system upgrades are minute
A comparison with Infinix X450 with Tecno N7 can be found here

Swype comes out of beta, available on the Play Store for a dollar

Posted by Unknown 0 komentar
After what seems like an eternity, Swype keyboard for Android is now finally out of its beta stage and available for download on the Google Play Store. The app is currently priced at an introductory price of $0.99.

For those who don’t know, Swype pioneered the sliding gesture-based typing method on phone keypads back in 2010. Since then this method of typing has been incorporated by several other keyboards, including the popular SwiftKey, and even built-in to several phones as standard.
The app has been in beta stage all these years and the only way to use it was to sign up for the beta program and then install the APK that you would receive. This is the first time that the app is now finally available on the Play Store without its beta tag.
One can’t help but get a sense of too little too late with Swype’s decision to hit the Play Store after all this time. Most other keyboards have already incorporated this function, with some like SwiftKey even letting you trace entire sentences without lifting your finger, and almost every Android OEM now, including Google, bundles a version of swiping gesture-based input in their keyboards. Who then would want to download Swype from the Play Store, that too by paying for it, remains to be seen

Configure Your Google Account To Delete Automatically After You Die

Posted by Unknown Rabu, 17 April 2013 0 komentar
We are in a age where information is the other of the day. Exchange of emails is even more rapid than ever. Information stored on all these emails are huge.

Credit card transactions, meeting, social media alerts, etc all have a way of connecting and sendig information to one's email. This is why access to the email is very restricted.

Death is inevitable to all. What happens when the owner of a particular email dies? Information will still continue to be sent to that email account non-stop therefore, Google came up with an idea.

This idea gives you the power to tell your Google account to behave in a certain way when you die.

You can set it to self - destruct if you don't access it in 6 months, 1 year etc.
This affects all of your Google apps, like Google+, Mail, Calender etc

To learn how to activate this feature, click here

I think it is an excellent and cool feature. Although, I know you all have some questions like,  if indeed an account is set to delete automatically, will it still be in Google's archive/server? Can it be re-activated with all data intact?

Well more about this feature will come out. Stay tuned for more news and info

An Android Based Nokia Phone

Posted by Unknown 0 komentar
Is Nokia fairing well in the face of this fierce competition in the Smartphone Industry?

The competition in the smartphone industry is very fierce. It is not a place for a weak company to venture into at all if you are not ready to do and make drastic powerful choices.

Former powerful companies like Nokia, Blackberry, Sagem etc which have given way to Apple Inc. and Samsung used to dominate the phone industry have fallen and have fallen even more because of this fierce competition going on at this point in time. The devices of these fallen heroes are no more demanded in great quality. People now can't wait to get theirs hands on iPhone, Samsung Galaxy S3, HTC One. Nokia and Blackberry isn't in the list.

What if Nokia had gone the Android way just like Samsung , HTC etc? Would the company be in a better situation?

As of this writing, Apple Inc. is dominating the smartphone market, raking in money by the minute. In fact, the fate of the Phone industry took a new turn since the emergence of the iPhone back in 2007 and have continue to get more powerful a industry.
The iPhone in 2007 came with huge radical innovative design  that made other phone makers to seat straight. This gap in creativity and design of Apple products and the sleekness of the Operating System (OS) running on the devices compared to other phones at that time was becoming too much that there need be a saviour to come up with something to reduce this gap since Nokia Symbian OS and Windows phone were useless. That much needed saviour was the Android Operating System.

Android Operating System, came to balance this huge gap. Before then, there was no device that could stand the iPhone in terms of usability aesthetics, OS stability and appeal. However, when Android started shipping into other phones, that gap started closing up. With the latest Android OS, Jellybean, and high end devices like Galaxy S4, that gap is well reduced.

In other to take advantage of this Android OS, many phone makers, started making phones shipped with Android OS e.g Samsung. this have helped them to gain popularity. Even HTC that used to be a Windows Phone joined the group and become even known.
Take Nigeria for example, where Nokia used to be the de-facto, Blackberry stole the market, Samsung dealt more damage, Tecno further reduced their market share. However Nokia, a former king in the Phone industry, couldn't fight back successfully. Although, they did tried as they ditched their Symbian OS and formed alliances with Microsoft to get back in the business. Well, That was a bad idea.
Nokia Lumia 920 & Samsung Galaxy S3

Nokia Lumia 920 & Apple iPhone 4S

Nokia Lumia 920 which is still the best nokia phone ever is not selling as you would expect and losses are being reported, yet, iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy s3 even HTC are raking in sales. In fact one will notice that Android and iOS based phones are more prominent and sells faster in the market today.
One can ask what if Nokia had gone the Android way just like Samsung , HTC etc? Would the company be in a better situation?

I believe that if Nokia had opted to use Android on their devices, they would have made a better standing and show.
As at now, the power of any Smartphone is based on the number of apps available for it and the number of developers willing to commit time to create something for the OS its running.
This is the problem blackberry is having and Nokia didn't learn from it.
Windows Phone app store is not as large as Android and Apple Store thus, it is easy to see why phones running Android OS will become popular.

In conclusion, Nokia already having the name and resources should have adopted Android as the OS of choice on their devices. If this was done, Nokia would have been in a better position.

These are my opinions, if you think otherwise that An Android based Nokia device won't change Nokia's predicament, drop your comments.

Google celebrates 57th anniversary of VHS with a VHS filter for YouTube videos

Posted by Unknown 0 komentar
Google is known to celebrate important events in its own whimsical way. Today marks the 57th anniversary of the VHS tapes, the format of choice for all video content back in the day. We have moved quite far since then, with video several times the length and quality fitting on a chip the size of a fingernail. But one can always look back and reminiscence over what was the only way to get video playing in our homes.

To celebrate this occasion, Google has added a new VHS button on YouTube videos. This essentially adds a filter on top of your videos that makes the video look blurry and distorted with the typical ghosting and snowing artifacts common to damaged VHS tapes. Some nice touches are the way the video distorts even further when you pause it and occasionally the video will loop vertically on screen.
For those who have never seen a VHS tape, the quality was nowhere as bad as what you see in the filter. It only used to happen when the tape was damaged badly and as is the case with analog sources, there were varying levels of quality, with bad sometime being really bad. Needless to say, no one particularly enjoys that aspect of VHS tapes (or tapes, in general).
To get a glimpse of how bad things would look back in the day, try watching the video here with the VHS option enabled. This option is currently not available for every video and is only for limited time.

Phonepad for Samsung smartphones allows you to turn your phone into a tablet

Posted by Unknown Minggu, 14 April 2013 0 komentar
A new mobile entertainment solution called Phonepad will allow you to turn your Samsung smartphone into a tablet or a gaming console. Think a third-party external screen, complete with a built-in battery and speakers along the lines of the ASUS Padfone lineup.

Phonepad transforms your existing smartphone into a 10-inch LED HD slate just by inserting the phone into a docking station.
The innovative gadget measures 187 x 270 x 20mm and weighs about 968g without the smartphone, which is rather heavy. The Phonepad can be used in landscape as well as in the portrait orientation.
The pad will be compatible with Samsung smartphones as it uses MHL as a connection protocol. So far there is no definitive list of the supported phone models.
We guess, we’ll know more when the Phonepad launches in July for a suggested retail price of £149.99.
